A third-grader from Florida has gotten artifacts from the World Trade Center for her school, writes Marc Valero in Highlands Today on March 30, 2016.
Ellie Brinling of Cracker Trail Elementary School in Sebring, Florida brought five seeds from the Survivor Tree, a Callery pear tree that survived the terrorist attacks of September 11, 2001, to her school last year. The school requested artifacts and will now receive some of the last ones left — a piece of steel, a damaged Bankers Trust notebook and a “Marvin the Martian” Spaceship Alarm Clock from the Warner Brothers’ shop in the concourse below the Towers.
The callery pear tree Ellie grew was planted next to a flagpole at the school.
The school hopes to receive the relics in time for a dedication ceremony on September 11, 2016.
