On Sunday, November 22, 2015, WABC posted a story about the new fireboat named in honor of FDNY First Deputy Commissioner William Feehan, who died on September 11, 2001, was officially christened Friday.
The William M. Feehan is 66 feet long, weighs 90,000 pounds, and can pump more than 8,000 gallons of water per minute. “William M. Feehan” is on the sides of the cabin in letters of steel from the World Trade Center.
Feehan was the second-highest ranking FDNY member killed in the attacks of September 11, 2001. He was 71 years old and, during his FDNY career, held every uniformed rank and served in all five boroughs of the city.
