SULPHUR, La. (AP) – Sulphur Mayor Chris Duncan says the city is incorporating the Vietnam and Korean War memorials, located in front of the old City Hall, into the design of the planned tribute to Leo Russell Keene III.

Duncan tells the American Press that the city is still in the design phase of the Keene memorial and would like to include the earlier memorial, along with others in the city.

Keene, a Sulphur native, died in the September 11, 2001, attacks. Keene was in the south tower of the World Trade Center when it collapsed. Officials say Keene helped two women escape through the bottom of an elevator, but he and 14 others didn’t make it out.

Duncan says once the design is complete, the project will go out for bid.
