Plans have been unveiled for a permanent 9/11 memorial in Springfield, Massachusetts, reports Paul Tuthill of WAMC. The memorial will feature a 12-foot piece of steel from the World Trade Center.
The memorial will be lit at night so that shadows of the beam will symbolize the lost towers.
A date for construction of the memorial has not been set, but the dedication is planned for September 11, 2018.
