9/11 firefighter’s nephew calls on city to finish Postcards Memorial by adding names of those who died of 9/11 illnesses

A Staten Island man whose firefighter uncle was killed in the 2001 terrorist attacks is asking the city  to include the names of those who have died of 9/11-related illnesses on the Postcards Memorial, reports Rachel Shapiro in the Staten Island Advance.

An unfinished memorial to those who have died of World Trade Center-related illnesses is adjacent to the Postcard’s wings.

Dominick DeRubbio, whose uncle, Firefighter David DeRubbio, was killed on 9/11,  recently wrote to city Economic Development Corporation with his request for the memorial to be finished, so that those families have a place of refuge, as his family does.

While the Economic Development Corporation has installed a plaque for those who died of illnesses, they have yet to add the names as planned. They claim that privacy concerns and lack of consent from some of the families involved are holding them back.
