NYPD officials have told reporters that more than ten times the number of NYPD police officers have died of World Trade Center-related illnesses in the nearly 18 years since 9/11 as were killed in the terrorist attack itself. Twenty-three NYPD Officers were killed on September 1, 2001. Two hundred and forty-one have died of illnesses linked to their work on the site afterwards, report Aaron Katersky and Dr. Sejal Parekh for ABC News.
