“With time running out to pass a new Zadroga Act before Congress leaves town, pols and first responders gathered at the site of the September 11 attacks to demand the health bill’s renewal” writes Erin Durkin in the December 6, 2015 New York Daily News
Retired firefighter Ray Pfeifer, who has stage 4 cancer after working for eight months the recovery effort, came to the rally in a wheelchair. “You have no idea what cancer costs in America. Do you spend $9,000 on a pill to stay alive, or do you spend it on helping out your family?” he said. “If this bill doesn’t pass, people will die, and we’re testament to this. We’re survivors because of this bill.”
