NEW YORK— Some 9/11 families upset over the delay in completing the September 11 museum are accusing the governors of New York and New Jersey of betraying the terrorist attack victims.
More than 200 family members signed a letter sent Wednesday to Gov. Andrew Cuomo and Gov. Chris Christie.
It calls on them to resolve a financial dispute that has delayed construction of the museum at the World Trade Center site.
The letter accuses the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey of trying to milk the public’s financial support of the memorial and museum “to offset its own … fiscal mismanagement.”
Port Authority spokeswoman Lisa MacSpadden says completing the museum and giving the families a place to remember their loved ones is of “utmost importance” to the agency.
