There is no firehouse planned for the Hudson Yards development on the far west side of midtown Manhattan and the head of the firefighters’ union says that poses an enormous risk, reports Michael Scotto for NY1.
By the year 2025, the 28 acres of Hudson Yards will hold roughly 125,000 people a day. The nearest firehouses are already busy and will be hampered by midtown’s traffic.
A 2016 study on fire needs for the area is ongoing.
