A frightening recent report from the US Government Accountability Office has found that security screening equipment in airports in tested upon installation, and not again, no matter how old they are or how much usage they receive. While equipment is recalibrated regularly, whether or not the screeners can still detect explosives is unknown.
The report also found that the TSA doesn’t implement new security standards for new threats, or update or document steps against new aircraft threats, writes Dan Reed of Forbes.
