U.S. Army Specialist Henry Mayfield, Jr. was one of three people killed on January 5, 2020 in a terrorist attack at Manda Bay Airfield in Kenya.
Specialist Mayfield was murdered by al-Shabab forces alongside two contractors for the Defense Department, reports Sandra Torres for NBC Chicago. Al-Shabab is a Somalian group linked to al Qaeda.
Specialist Mayfield joined the Army in 2018. He was only 23 and from the Chicago area.
