Rockville Centre has renamed the corner of Maple and Madison Avenues “Detective Steven McDonald Way” in honor of the beloved NYPD detective who died last month. The corner is the site of the local police station, reports WKIP Radio.
Detective McDonald was paralyzed from the neck down in the 1980s in a shooting. He forgave the teen who shot him and was a voice of compassion and peace despite his injuries.
