The huge motorcycle event, America’s 911 Ride, will end this year. The annual motorcycle procession to the three sites attacked by terrorists on September 11th attracts roughly 1,200 riders. Officials say the ride blocks traffic, especially from Shanksville, PA to Washington DC, reports David Dishneau of the Associated Press. The ride begins on a Friday, so DC commuters headed out for the weekend encounter long delays.
Ride organizers complain that they do not have enough police escorts and that roadways are not opened to them.
Several suggested compromises have not worked.
