Angela Green, an Army veteran and NYPD officer, was diagnosed with World Trade Center-related breast cancer in 2011. Since then, she has struggled with many health issues, some of which are side effects from cancer treatment. The 9/11 Victim Compensation Fund, a federal program that helped Green and many others, is now in danger of running out of funds. Local lawmakers have written to Congress, asking for permanent funds so that other people made ill by the attacks can be assisted.
