Lawmakers from both parties are calling for the release of the April 2016 Operation Encore Final Report and other documents concerning Saudi Arabia’s role in the terrorist attacks of September 11, 2001, reports Mikki Schwab for the UK’s Daily Mail.
Most of the hijackers were Saudi Arabian. The Saudi government has denied involvement.
It is thought that the new calls for the release of the long-requested documents is in response to the February 2021 release of papers disclosing that the Saudi Crown Prince approved the murder journalist Jamal Khashoggi.
Brett Eagleson, whose father was killed in the 9/11 attacks, told reporters, “I don’t understand how our government can release the documents on the murder of one man two years ago but not the documents on the murder of 3,000 people 20 years ago.”
Hundreds of members of the 9/11 community have been fighting for years for the release of the documents.
