The Durst Organization may now allow a charity stair climb to take place in One World Trade Center after their recent refusal, wrote Philip Messing on March 8, 2016 in The New York Post.
After Durst’s refusal, New York’s governor asked them to sit down with representatives of the Stephen Siller Tunnel to Towers Foundation and governor’s representatives to find a solution.
The Tunnel to Towers Foundation held their first stair climb successfully at 1WTC last year, raising $500,000 to build adapted homes for severely wounded veterans. The charity was founded in honor of Stephen Siller, an FDNY firefighter who ran to the World Trade Center through the Battery Tunnel during the terrorist attack of 2001.
