After more than a decade of construction, the tallest building in the Western Hemisphere is slated to leave its mark in downtown Manhattan in 2014.
While there isn’t an official opening date set, 1 World Trade Center is close to completion and developers have said they are confident it will open some time in the new year. Tenants who have leased space so far include Condé Nast, Vantone China Center and the federal government.
The building, which is 1,776 feet tall, reached its full height in 2013 when workers topped off the tower with its spire, beating out Chicago’s Willis Tower, at 1,451 feet, for tallest building in the U.S.
Its neighbor 4 World Trade Center opened in November with a huge celebration.
