Retail sales of drones in NJ were so high last month that the New Jersey Office of Homeland Security and Preparedness asks the public to watch for signs of suspicious drone activities, reports David Matthau for NJ 101.5.
You are asked to contact your local police if you see drones flying in sensitive areas such as airports, military bases, or sporting events, in unusual patterns, or if you see drones modified with extra batteries or wires attached to them. Lights on drones that have been tampered with or removed are also cause for concern, as drones can be used as weapons or for reconnaissance.
Any suspicious drone activity should be reported to local police or the New Jersey Office of Homeland Security & Preparedness’s Counterterrorism Watch Desk at 1-866-4-SAFE-NJ or via email at tips@njohsp.gov.
