In 2016, 33 NYPD officers have died from World Trade Center-related illnesses – more than in any previous year. On Friday, their names were added to the NYPD Memorial Wall, reported Dean Meminger for NY1.
Many other officers have been stricken with cancer or other serious illnesses from their work at the World Trade Center site after the terrorist attacks of 2001.
There are 915 names on the Memorial Wall, dating as far back as 1849. More names will be added as the terrorist attacks continue to claim lives.
