Staten Island’s 9/11 memorial Postcards will be upgraded with a $250,000 donation from the New York City Economic Development Corporation, reports Victoria Priola for the Staten Island Advance. The money will provide new coating to protect the stone from corrosion and modernize the lighting at the September 11th monument that shows the silhouettes of the 274 Staten Islanders killed in the terrorist attacks.
Postcards is now 14 years old. By the end of this year, 73 names of rescue and recovery workers who have died as a result of their work at the World Trade Center site will have been added to the memorial.
