More than 4,500 Sailors and Marines serving in the Kearsarge Amphibious Ready Group (ARG) and the 22nd Marine Expeditionary Unit will begin a seven-month deployment on December 17, 2018.
One of the ships in Kearsarge ARG is the amphibious transport dock ship USS Arlington (LPD 24), named for those killed at the Pentagon and aboard Flight 77 in the 9/11 terrorist attacks.
This will be the first deployment for many of the crew, reports Erin Miller of News 3 (Norfolk, VA).
