Richard and Lois Nicotra, Staten Island philanthropists who run the Hilton Garden Inn, have installed a phone booth in their Memorial Garden so that people can “place phone calls” to loved ones they have lost this holiday season, reports Carol Ann Benanti for the Staten Island Advance.
“It’s a gift to our Staten Island community. Make a phone call and connect with someone you are missing — especially during the holiday season when we think about our loved ones more than ever. We think they’ll hear you.”
The Memorial Garden honors the 274 Staten Island residents who were killed in the terrorist attacks of September 11, 2001 the 85 Staten Island service members killed in the Vietnam War.
