A new book discusses how virtual reality programs can help to ease pain, lower blood pressure, and help with PTSD, reports Susannah Cahalan for the NY Post.
Brennan Spiegel, a doctor who studies VR therapies at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles, has written a new book entitled, VRx: How Virtual Therapeutics Will Revolutionize Medicine. He claims VR can reduce pain without drugs and side effects, and that it should be a common treatment from anything from dental work to childbirth.
He has worked with burn victims, military members with PTSD, and a variety of others.
