A fiery helicopter crash in midtown Manhattan made locals nervous, but NY’s governor says there are no signs of terrorism, reports James Barron for the New York Times.
Fog and rain have made visibility poor in the city today.
The crash occurred on the roof of the 51-story building at 787 Seventh Avenue (at 51st Street). The building, which houses law firms and the restaurant Le Bernardin, was safely evacuated without injuries to anyone on the ground and the fire is out.
The helicopter’s pilot, its only occupant, was killed in the crash.
