The people behind the new television adaptation of the Lawrence Wright book The Looming Tower discuss its main characters, Ali Soufan and John O’Neill, writes Stephanie Merry in the Washington Post.
FBI agent Ali Soufan used his Lebanese background and knowledge of Arabic to assist the FBI, becoming an important figure in the counterterrorism world.
John O’Neill spent much of his FBI career trying to convince the agency to stop a little-known man called Osama bin Laden. O’Neill was killed in the terrorist attacks of September 11, 2001.
