‘Ground Zero Mosque’ site to become ultra-luxury condos

Remember that 15-floor “Ground Zero Mosque” that caused such a ruckus five years ago?

The developer has now decided to build an ultra-luxury, 70-story residential skyscraper on the site, two blocks north of where the World Trade Center stood.

“The tower is going to be a market-maker,” developer Sharif El-Gamal told Crains New York. “We’ve perfected a building that’s really going to share in a unique moment” of high demand for upscale downtown properties, he said. The tower will be completed in 2017, he said.
