On the eve of Veterans Day, a bill will be signed into law extending the window for active military members to become FDNY firefighters.
Now Shaun Donovan, a Navy SEAL who was six months over the former age limit, can now join the Fire Department, reports Susan Edelman for the New York Post.
Donovan said, “I am grateful that myself and several other veterans who are also now eligible will have the privilege to attend the FDNY academy. I am beyond humbled to have the chance to be a part of the FDNY and look forward to doing my part to keep the people and property of New York City safe.”
