Stanley Yeager has been helping people smile brighter for more than 40 years. The Montville-based dentist is also helping people cope with one of America’s darkest days.
From the Ashes is a 9/11 inspired sculpture of a fireman from the terrorist attacks on the World Trade Center buildings in New York City on September 11, 2001.
The sculpture is now on display at the Mayo Performing Arts Center in the Art Upstairs Gallery, and will be available for public viewing until mid-September. Yeager is a self-taught sculptor and bought is first case of Chavant clay in 1995 and began to experiment.
“[Yeager] invites the viewer to interact with the sculpture on multiple levels whether it is a purely instinctive reaction to its emotional content or an appreciation of its form as a unique visual experience,” Mayo PAC noted in a press release. “The end result is the reflection by the viewer of their own condition and experiences in life.”
“The university of the human condition and the beauty and grace of the human form transcends time and cultural boundaries,” said Yeager in his artistic philosophy. “There is a unifying element that elicits a common response in the viewer. There is a common thread that binds us, humanity, together. We respond to the subtle nuances of body posture and facial expression. My work addresses his timelessness.”
The Art Upstairs is open by appointment and two hours prior to events. Mayo PAC is located on South Street in Morristown.
