James Greenleaf, Jr. continues to help people years after his death in the World Trade Center during the terrorist attacks of September 11, 2001 through the James A. Greenleaf Jr. Memorial Scholarship Fund, set up by his family and friends, reports Greg Smith for theDay.com.
Scholarships are funded by three events annually – a dinner, a run, and a golf outing. The dinner is coming up, the week of February 10, what would have been Greenleaf’s birthday.
The fund honoring Greenleaf began one year after his death with one $1,000 scholarship. Last year, $62,000 in scholarships were awarded. The fund has given more than $400,000 in scholarships to worthy students throughout Connecticut.
