FDNY Assistant Chief Ronald Spadafora was lauded at his funeral by FDNY Commissioner Daniel Nigro and others. Chief Spadafora died of World Trade Center-related cancer last week.
Commissioner Nigro told the crowd, “It was a theme of his career: Where there was difficult work to do that’s where you would find Ron leading the way. Like so many of our members, Ron’s heroic and noble work would eventually lead to the illness that would ultimately claim his life.”
Chief Spadafora, 63, was a 40-year veteran of the FDNY, reported Chelsia Rose Marcius for the New York Daily News.
