Eugene Pierre Schepers III, who survived the 1993 terrorist attack on the World Trade Center, has died at the age of 84, reports the St. Augustine Record.
The architect worked for the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey and was trapped in an elevator during the 1993 bombing of the World Trade Center. His work on a government commission that ordered building changes to the complex after the bombing. The changes made by the commission saved lives in the 2001 attacks.
He died on April 21, 2019 in Florida.
He requested no public memorial. In lieu of flowers, his family suggests donations to the Pulmonary Fibrosis Foundation, 230 East Ohio Street, Suite 500, Chicago, IL 60611.
