On February 10, 2016, the Associated Press reported that Amnesty International has asked the Department of Defense to investigate whether Guantanamo prisoner Mustafa al-Hawsawi is receiving adequate medical care.
al-Hawasawi is awaiting trial with four others to determine their role in plotting the terrorist attacks of September 11, 2001.
According to the Pentagon, all detainees receive the same medical treatment as US soldiers.
