The Urban Area Security Initiative, which provides antiterrorism funds to major US cities, including New York, has been cut very nearly in half in President Obama’s proposed 2017 budget. The proposal cuts counter-terror funds from $600 million to $330 million.
New York City received $180 million from the fund last year.
