Pedal-powered ride honoring FDNY FF Michael Carlo raises $18K for men and women in uniform

Rob Carlo, a retired FDNY firefighter who lost his brother on 9/11, and who suffers from PTSD, decided to turn his 56th birthday into a good day by raising money for veterans. He spent 24 hours straight on his single-speed beach cruiser to raise funds for the Uniformed Services Program at the Brattleboro Retreat, raising nearly $20,000.

Charity honoring LBI 9/11 victim Bill Kelly, Jr. says apparel company stole its logo

The Bill Kelly Jr. Memorial Fund has given nearly one million dollars worth of scholarships to students at the University of Scranton. Their logo has been a shamrock with the stars and stripes of the American flag since the charity’s beginnings, just months after Bill Kelly, Jr. was killed in the September 11th terrorist attacks.

A Utah company now uses an identical logo and has refused to stop doing so.
