The Anne Frank Center for Mutual Respect held a ceremony in Liberty Park to dedicate a sapling of the same chestnut tree that grew outside Anne Frank’s “Secret Annexe” in Amsterdam, where she and her family hid for years from the Nazis. The sapling project plants saplings of Anne’s tree in areas affected by hatred, reports Ivan Pereira in AMNY.
Monica Smith, Anne Frank’s second cousin, attended the dedication on June 12 — what would have been Anne’s 88th birthday.
