Simonsen Foundation brings holiday cheer to young Aquebogue student

The Simonsen Foundation, Blue Lives Matter-NYC K9, and Phil Alvarez teamed up to give a little girl a Christmas treat. A shopping spree was arranged for Valery, a girl who lost her home in a storm earlier this year, reported Joe Werkmeister for The Riverhead News-Review.

Leanne Simonsen started the Simonsen Foundation to honor NYPD Det. Brian Simonsen, who was killed in the line of duty last year. Phil Alvarez is the brother of the late NYPD Detective Luis Alvarez, whose dying speech to Congress may have been the reason that the September 11th VCF was refunded.

“This is the first time since Brian died that I actually felt pure joy,” she said. “This little girl gave me pure joy.”
