Retired NYPD Officer John Ferreyra whose 9/11 Victim Compensation Fund award was stolen gets $400,000 payout

Months ago, retired NYPD Officer John Ferreyra, who suffers from World Trade Center-related lymphoma, was robbed of his WTC Victim Compensation money by a former friend who was his attorney. Today he received $400,000 from the New York State Lawyers Fund, reports WABC.

Ferreyra was awarded $1,000,000 by the 9/11 Victim Compensation Fund, but more than 90% of it was stolen by Gustavo Vila, who will be sentenced for his crime this winter.
