Seminar to help retired first responders get compensation for 9/11-related illnesses

A seminar was held recently in Singer Island, FL to educate retired police officers, EMS workers, and firefighters about eligibility for the World Trade Center Victim Compensation Fund, as many thousands of those who worked the recovery efforts at the World Trade Center site become ill from their exposure.

Retired NYPD Sergeant Stephen Bruno, who suffers from a number of World Trade Center-related cancers, told Luli Ortiz of WPEC News 12 FL, “These illnesses don’t come at you overnight. They sneak up on you.”
