Lila Nordstrom, a Stuyvesant High School 9/11 survivor and advocate for World Trade Center health issues is devastated that a new film, HBO’s In the Shadow of the Towers: Stuyvesant High on 9/11, omits mentioning the site-related illnesses plaguing the Stuyvesant community.
The film will debut this week on HBO, reports Michael McAuliff for the New York Daily News.
Nordstrom knows at least 20 Stuyvesant alumni who have site-related cancer. Catherine Choy, who is strongly featured in the film, died of site-related gastric cancer recently. The film says she died of cancer, but ignores the link to her exposure.
