9/11 victim benefits bill reaches filibuster-proof Senate majority, putting pressure on McConnell

Sixty senators – a bipartisan and filibuster-proof majority of the Senate – have declared their support to permanently fund the 9/11 Victim Compensation Fund, announced New York Sen. Kirsten Gillibrand.

This means that Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell will decide the issue when the “Never Forget the Heroes” bill passes the House, as it should soon, reports Chris Sommerfeldt for the New York Daily News.

McConnell is currently in a closed-door meeting with some of the sick survivors and recovery workers from the September 11th community.
