The bill to permanently fund the 9/11 Victim Compensation Fund passed out of the House Judiciary Committee unanimously today after yesterday’s scathing speech by comedian Jon Stewart excoriated the House for making those sick from 9/11 wait and beg for funding for their illnesses.
The bill must then pass the Congressional Budget Office so that the full House of Representatives can vote on it, but with 313 co-sponsors, the bill should pass the House.
The Senate version of the bill currently has some bipartisan support, but needs a veto-proof majority to pass into law, reports Nikki Schwab for the NY Post.
