John McLoughlin, a Port Authority Police Department sergeant who survived the terrorist attacks of September 11, 2001, spending 22 hours trapped and injured beneath the rubble, will be the keynote speaker at his alma mater on Friday, May 17, 2019.
Three of McLouglin’s four children also graduated from Oswego; the fourth, his youngest child, Erin, will graduate from the school this year. After years of seeing her father go through therapy for his injuries, Erin will become an occupational therapist after graduation.
“In watching the therapists help my dad, I realized I wanted to be that person for someone else. I want to help people gain back their leisure abilities and reclaim the parts of their life that they think they’ve lost,” she told SUNY Oswego News.
