Army Ranger Pat Tillman remembered on 15th anniversary of his death

Colleagues of one-time NFL player and member of the U.S. Army’s 75th Ranger Regiment Pat Tillman marked the 15th anniversary of his death in Afghanistan, reports Laura Widener for American Military News.

Tillman left his successful career as a professional football player in response to the terrorist attacks of September 11, 2001. He was killed in a tragic friendly fire incident in Afghanistan after serving less than two years.

“At times like this you stop and think about just how good we have it, what kind of system we live in, and the freedoms we are allowed. A lot of my family has gone and fought in wars and I really haven’t done a damn thing,” the Pat Tillman Foundation records him telling a reported after the attacks.
