Why accused bike path terrorist is unlikely to face death penalty

Accused terrorist Sayfullo Saipov, who claims he “felt good about what he had done” – namely killing 8 cyclists and injuring 12 more by mowing them down with a truck on October 31, 2017 – will probably not face the death penalty for his actions.

The Department of Justice is seeking the death penalty in this case, but it is unlikely to happen. In the last 30 years, New York State federal prosecutors have sought the death penalty nearly 50 times, yet it has not been applied, reports Kaja Whitehouse for the NY Post.
