A panel of three Manhattan federal appeals court judges has yesterday upheld all but two counts of the guilty verdict and corresponding life sentence for Mustafa Kamel Mustafa, aka Abu Hamza al-Masri, aka “Hook Hand,” and denied requests to move him from maximum-security prison to a medical facility.
The panel did reverse two counts of the original sentence, while upholding the majority of the sentence. Those counts were that he materially supported terrorists while in the United States. The panel said that “no part of that conduct occurred within the United States.”
Mustafa was sentenced to life for providing material support to terrorists in several instances, including a 1998 kidnapping in Yeman that killed 4 hostages. He lost both hands when a bomb he was handling went off, reports Kaja Whitehouse for the NY Post.
