Ahmad Nawaz was 14 and in school in Pakistan on the morning of December 16, 2014 when terrorists entered the school and shot and burned teachers and students, some as young as 8. One hundred and forty-nine people, most of them children, were killed in the attack; many more were injured.
Ahmad was badly injured in the attack. His younger brother, Haris, 13, was shot in the head and killed while shielding someone.
The Nawaz family moved to Birmingham after the attack. Now 20, Ahmad writes an account of his struggles for the Independent, and tells of his involvement with Building a Stronger Britain Together and the anti-extremist movements in Britain.
