FDNY firefighter group headed to Florida as Hurricane Michael batters state

The FDNY’s Disaster Assistance Response Team (DART), a Red Cross-affiliated team of active and retired firefighters, is preparing to help Hurricane Michael victims in Florida. They just returned last week from a 14-day deployment to Hurricane Florence, reports WCBS 880.

DART team president Doug Bainton told reporters, “We’ll be sending more messages out, gathering the list, confirming names, and all that, but I know for a fact that we’ll have at least 10 that will turn around and go right back out.”

One of the primary duties of the team is distribution of supplies.
