Assistance in the storm: FDNY and NYPD help in evacuations at Florence-ravaged North Carolina

Urban Search and Rescue New York Task Force, a nearly-hundred strong unit of NYPD and FDNY members are evacuating special needs residents of North Carolina from the floods of Hurricane Florence.

The team, which includes September 11th family members, is currently in River Bend, NC, bearing eight boats and six trained dogs.

They have responded to other disasters, including Hurricanes Matthew, Harvey, and Irma, reports the NY Daily News.
