New research just published in the New England Journal of Medicine tells of study results that show doubled survival time for some lung cancer patients who were treated with a combination of chemotherapy and immunotherapy compared to those treated only with chemotherapy, reports Susan Scutti for CNN.
The study included 616 non-squamous non-small cell lung cancer patients, 400 of whom received the combination treatment.
Dr. Jorge Gomez told CNN, “It’s already been 21 months [since the study]. The differences are big enough now that you know it’s going to be a very big number and it’s important to get this information to people so they can start using this regimen.”
