The number of rescue and recovery workers with cancer caused by their work at the site of the World Trade Center during the aftermath of the terrorist attacks has reached 3,700, reports Susan Edelman in the New York Post.
The workers with cancer include FDNY members (1,100), NYPD, PAPD all the other workers from the recovery effort — steel burners, DDC personnel, military DSNY, ironworkers, grappler operators, etc. (2,134), and workers, and residents of Lower Manhattan (467). Many of those affected have more than one type of cancer.
